11/02/2018 12:30 pm
11/02/2018 1:30 pm

WWUH signed on for the first time in July, 1968. As part of the 50th anniversary commemoration, the station conducted a series of interviews with over 90 current and former staff members and searched archives for tapes of old programs.

The result of this effort is the WWUH 50th Anniversary Special - a documentary detailing the history of the station's programming and staff over the last fifty years.

The program will be broadcast in four parts on successive Friday afternoons at 12:30 p.m., starting Friday, October 19th.

PART 3 - Friday, November 2nd at 12:30 p.m.

Part 3 begins with a look at the station's long-running late-night Gothic Blimpworks program which was the first progressive rock show on Hartford radio. Interviews with current and former Gothics hosts are included along with some archival audio.

A tribute to the late Jim Fifield, known on air as "Burrito" is included.

Also included is a history of the All Night Show 3AM to 6Am program, emphasizing the variety of different music presented.
Part 3 concludes with a look at several of the specialty shows that have aired on the station over the years including Carosello Musical Italiano, The Greatest Show From Earth, Culture Dogs, Street Corner Serenade, the Rock and Roll Memory Machine and West Indian Rhythms.
The documentary was produced and edited by WWUH volunteer Brandon Kampe, who joined the WWUH staff in 2005 and who's first documentary for WWUH, the Hartford Circus Fire - An Audio Recollection has been aired numerous times on the station.
