Join Beyond the Classroom host, David Schonfeld, on Thursday, September 19 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m.

In Program #3, David talks to Warren Goldstein.

Dr. Goldstein is Professor of History and Chair of the History Department in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Hartford.

In this interview, Dr. Goldstein talks about the University's History Department: its faculty and its strengths.

He then discusses his early academic interest in the history of sports and offers a nuanced critique of the recent film about Jackie Robinson, "42". He also reminisces about his own connection with filmmaker Ken Burns's series about baseball.

Dr. Goldstein then talks about his abiding interest in the history of race relations in America, focusing on the careers of two remarkable clerics about whom he has written: the Rev. William Sloane Coffin, Jr. and Martin Luther King, Jr.
