Join Beyond the Classroom host, David Schonfeld, on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m, and again from 7:00-7:30 p.m.

In Program #6, David talks to Avinoam Patt.

Avinoam J. Patt, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Judaic Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is the Philip D. Feltman Professor of Modern Jewish History at the Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Hartford, where he is also director of the Museum of Jewish Civilization.

In the previous broadcast (Program #5), Dr. Patt explained the genesis and mission of the Greenberg Center as well as the Center's work in genocide prevention. He then talked about his research into the relationship of the Holocaust and the creation of the State of Israel.

In this second part of this two-part interview, Dr. Patt talks about the evolution and history of Jewish languages. He also discusses the broader phenomena of genocide and evil in human experience.
