Join me on Tuesday, May 20 from 9 a.m. - noon during Out Here & Beyond for a salute to the Saturnian sounds of Sun Ra, who arrived on Planet Earth May 22, 1914... and brought with him a galaxy of unique musical adventures.

Did any of you intrepid space travelers hear/see Sun Ra's Arkestra at Mad Murphy's in Hartford on July 1, 1984? I was there, sweating and swaying with the other humans who crammed themselves into that small space when the threat of rain forced the concert indoors... it was to have taken place in Bushnell Park as the free kick-off for New Music America, a week-long festival celebrating cutting-edge sounds from all genres.
